VISAS

1. Foreign citizens who have arrived in the Republic of Moldova to study from European Union countries, CIS countries, USA, Israel, as well as in other countries, do not need a visa to enter the territory of the Republic of Moldova. At the point of crossing the state border, it shall apply a stamp in the passport. From the moment of applying the stamp, the foreigner has the legal right to be on the territory of the Republic of Moldova for 90 days. Foreign citizens, who come to study at the University, are obliged to present themselves at the Department for Recruitment and Documentation of Foreign Citizens within 3 days from their entry on the territory of Moldova, to initiate the documentation procedure on obtaining the right of temporary residence.

2.  However, a number of countries require the MD Visa to enter the territory of the Republic of Moldova. There are 2 types of visa:

Type C - short-stay visa, on the basis of which the foreigner has the right to be on the territory of Moldova during the mentioned period of time. This type of visa cannot be extended.

Type D - long-stay visa, on the basis of which the foreigner has the right to submit the documents for obtaining the right of temporary residence for the study period. This type of visa may be extended, if necessary, depending on its duration and validity. The MD visa is issued on the basis of the official invitation, issued by the Bureau of Migration and Asylum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Foreign citizens, accepted by the University to study, in order to initiate the procedure for obtaining the official invitation, based on which they will be granted a MD Visa to enter the territory of Moldova, will send to the e-mail address of the Department of Recruitment and Documentation of Foreign Citizens: foreign@usmf.md, the following documents:

a. copy of national passport (valid for at least one year);

b. copy of the residence permit in the country of residence (if the foreigner is, for some reason, in the territory of another country);

c. copy of the  bank statement, indicating the amount of  minimum 1750 euros or its equivalent; at the time of submission, the date of issue of the extract shall not exceed 10 days;

d. copy of the criminal record in the country of origin, with English translation (Russian / Romanian);

Remark: ÎIn case of previous entries on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the foreigner will present the copies of the visas. Applicants for invitations to postgraduate studies will present copies of undergraduate diplomas.

The fees for obtaining official invitations:

State tax – 20 MDL;

Examination of the request within 5 working days – 120 MDL;

Examination of the request within 3 working days – 180 MDL.

The MD visa applicant presents himself with the original invitation to any diplomatic mission of the Republic of Moldova abroad.
